Gareth C.C. Chang
Gareth is the Chairman and Managing Partner of GC3 & Associates International LLC (a private investment and consulting firm), senior advisor to Baring Private Equity Asia and Chairman of Novo Tellus Capital Partners. He is currently also serving on the board of Neustar (NYSE).
Prior to his present portfolios, Gareth was the Founding Chairman of D5 Studio and Alpha Media in Beijing producing 3D animation, TV dramas and feature films for China and the international market; the Chairman/CEO of Towona, the leading mobile TV in China; Executive Chairman of Netstar Group; Executive Chairman of McDonnell-Shanghai Aircraft group during which he pioneered (1979) the first US-China multi-billion high-tech joint venture producing FAA certified DC9/MD80/MD90 commercial jetliners in China.
Throughout Gareth’s illustrious career, he has served on the boards of Apple Computer, Comscore, News Corporation, Palm Inc., DirecTV, Agile Software, SRS Labs and the Advisory Council of Nike Inc.
Gareth has over 40 years of experience in developing leading technologies and media businesses in the U.S. and worldwide. He has served as Chairman and Chief Executive of News Corp.'s StarTV Group in Hong Kong, President of Hughes (Aircraft) Electronics International, President of DirecTV International, Executive Chairman of DirecTV Japan, Executive Chairman of Hughes-JVC Technology and Corporate Vice President of McDonnell Douglas Corp.
The recipient of many awards in recognition of his outstanding contributions in business, science and community affairs - including being named by Fortune as one of the top 125 Thinkers of the World - Gareth also received honorable mention at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival for producing the short film AUGUST 15.
Gareth holds a BA in Mathematics/Physics, an honorary Doctorate of Science from California State University and an MBA from Pepperdine University. He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Communications in Beijing, a Visiting Professor at the Tsinghua University, Honorary Professor at the Chinese University of Astronautics and Aeronautics and Visiting Professor at Portland State University. He is a board member of the Committee of 100, and serves on the Board of The East West Players in Los Angeles and the UCLA Public Policy Advisory Board, as well as being a member of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.
